Butterflies have been referred to as one of God's more creative endeavors. They are like little solar panels. Butterflies rely on the sun to raise their body temperatures so they can fly. They can't fly if their body temperature is below 86 degrees. Butterflies weigh about as much as rose petal, but can fly thousands of miles. Butterflies can also see ultraviolet light which are invisible to us humans. That makes the markings on flowers very vivid to them and guides them to the nectar tubes. The eye of a butterfly is made up of about 6,000 tiny lenses which let in light.
Bring butterflies into Your Garden
If you want to bring butterflies into your yard, you need to plant nectar plants that supply food for the butterflies.Butterflies are attracted by varying degrees to a flower's color, shape or smell, but the biggest draw is the nectar. An abundance of flowers will invite butterflies to explore. Flowering plants in large groups are preferable to a few isolated plants here and there. By selecting plants that have an abundance of nectar, you will have a cloud of butterflies beating their wings to your garden.
Future Generations of Butterflies
If you want future generations to be born in your yard, you need to select larval plants for the butterflies to deposit their eggs. Some larval plants are Parsley, Milkweed, Elm, Poplar and Thistle. This is important because butterflies only live for one season.

      Because river rocks come in so many shapes and sizes, the dimensions will largely depend on the design. The large river rocks range between 20 to 28 pounds. They are typically around a foot in length but can vary due to the irregular shapes. The large rocks allow for greater creativity due to the larger "canvas".
